Friends of the Ipswich
Playhouse Theater
|
| The
Friends of the Ipswich Playhouse Theater will be a major
contributor of the planned activities at The Ipswich
Playhouse Arts & Entertainment Center, and is
envisioned to be set up as a non-profit company to
create, fund, manage and operate the second floor
theater venue. The Friends will bring a variety of film
and live theater productions, as well as appropriate
musical events, to The Ipswich Playhouse Theater.
Invited groups will include ongoing local performing
arts companies, as well as other companies located
throughout the New England area. Each company might
bring 4 or 5 productions to the Ipswich Playhouse during
the year. One of the planned companies would be in
charge of the movies to be shown during the year. The
Friends may also arrange for outdoor
“theater-in-the-park” productions, as well as
musical events, such as a Summer Jazz Festival or a Folk
Music Series, utilizing the planned outdoor deck/stage
area. |
| Our
Mission
The
Friends of the Ipswich Playhouse Theater is a non-profit
organization dedicated to supporting the viability of a
state-of-the-art theater facility for the Ipswich
Playhouse Arts & Entertainment Center. The objective
of Friends of the Ipswich Playhouse Theater volunteer
members and partners is to raise funds through grants
and community fundraising events, as well as generate
revenues through memberships and sponsorships. Friends
of the Ipswich Playhouse Theater endeavors are designed
to enhance both live and film theater, as well as other
performing arts productions and programs at the
Playhouse, in order to enlighten, excite, educate and
entertain the Ipswich community and residents of the
regional area. |
| Our
Organization
The
organization of the Friends group will include a Board
of Directors that will oversee and have overall
responsibility for the organization. Members of the
Board will lead the efforts of five initial standing
committees. Each committee will have specific
responsibilities as described below and will hopefully
draw it's membership from the many talented residents of
Ipswich and surrounding communities that are committed
to making the Ipswich Playhouse Theater a reality.
The
Board of Directors will hire an Executive Director, and
necessary support staff, to run the day to day
operations of the corporation, as well as the theater
venue, including the management, coordination, and
execution of all activities of the various Committees.
Each
of the Committees will be organized around specific
areas of responsibility,
and will be lead by members of the Board of Directors
with the specific interests and specialty backgrounds
required, as well as other volunteer members who are
interested in the various aspects of theater management
and operations. |
